Hoppin' Time!!!

leaping AND hopping

We've finally reached another Friday!  I'm breathing a sigh of relief .... I have today off from work and it's not 99 degrees where I live!!  I live in the Chicago area, and it's been pretty hot (and 80 degrees inside the library where I work) --- but we had some storms on Thursday which brought our temperature down, and the a/c in the library finally started to work, too --- so now, it's all good.   :)

So, anyway -- Friday means it's time to Hop.   The Book Blogger Hop this week is being hosted by Lori -- thank you very much, Lori!!   As always, the Hop is a great opportunity to visit with bloggers you know, and meet new bloggers.

This week's question is: "Who is the one author you're dying to meet?"     Lucky for me, the one author I had been dying to meet, I actually DID meet.   I have had a huge author crush on China Mieville for years and I finally had the opportunity to not only hear him speak, but got two of my books signed, as well (at C2E2 in Chicago).    I tell you - I wasn't sure if I was going to faint in front of him, but I was able to not only hold it together, but I didn't turn into a babbling idiot when I was in front of him, getting my books signed.     And let me say this --- I had a feeling he was cool, just from reading and loving his books....  but he is extremely cool in person -- very, very intelligent.   And ... um ..... very good-looking.   If he has any flaws, they aren't visible.   And if you know of any flaws he has, please do not tell me.   I would prefer to just think of him as .... perfect.

This is China Mieville.   He is perfect.

I'm looking forward to reading everyone else's stories this Hop.   Have a great weekend, everyone!!!!

Awesome answer! When I meet an author that I really love and admire, I feel sort of starstruck and I can't seem to find any words to say! I just smile and stare and they probably think that I'm a freak! Anyway, thanks for stopping by my blog! Happy hopping :)

Lucky you! Meeting a favorite author in the flesh - I don't think I'd hold it together as well as you :)

Does Mieville have a new book coming out? I feel like I just heard about him...

At the risk of facing your wrath I have to admit to never having heard of China Mieville although I think he might have played Lex Luther in Smallville. :)
Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier and I love the rabbit pic. Cool!

That's so cool that you got to meet him. I'm happy for you. I actually got to meet Stephenie Meyer (who I would've said if I hadn't) and it was really fun to meet her. I had to scream at the top of my lungs after I left the signing because I had too much pent up energy from remaining clam while I was talking to her. :)

Thanks for stopping by. It's awesome that you got to meet your top pick. :) I just hope I can keep my cool as well as you did when I attend my first signing.

hahaha. That's how I feel. I don't want to know if my favorite authors have flaws!

Have read so much of positive stuff on this author. Interesting the authors the blogs are throwing up.

Having seen China Mieville a few weeks ago when he did a reading for Embassytown, you'll be thrilled to learn he really is very cool. Brilliant too (Ph.D. from London School of Economics!). He got teary when talking about the student-led revolutions in North Africa and Spain. Really hilarious, very humble, a total geek, and super, super, ridiculously sexy.

I'm lately obsessed with China Mieville as well. Embassytown was f'ing incredible.

but who would I really like to meet? Scott Lynch. oh boy do I love him!

Just finished reading Death: A Life. Absolutely hilarious, if just a bit too pun-ny for my tastes. :) Thanks for the recommendation!

I have chosen an author I would like to meet but I don't know what I would do or say if I got the opportunity to meet any author. I would be so tongue-tied.
