Hoppin'

We have reached Friday, which means it's time for another book blogger hop!!!!!   Jennifer over at Crazy for Books hosts this every week, and it seems to keep getting bigger!  Good thing it runs Friday - Monday, because it gives me a chance to go around and visit -- and discover new blogs!!!

This week's question is:   Do you use a rating system for your reviews and if so, what is it, and why?

I don't use a rating system.   When I first started this blog, I just wanted to share my thoughts about what I was reading --- I didn't even think about rating the books.   I still don't know if this is something I want to do.   I know it's a little more work to actually read through my posts, instead of just looking for a rating, but I read through reviews even if there's a rating at the end (I don't just skip to the rating).

Happy Hopping, everyone !!!

I'm with you on the book ratings. I never started my blog to rate books and I think a written review gives you a better idea of if the book was any good or not than a simple rating system ever could.

Rating is tricky business. I do rates book with 1-5 stars but it's mostly for my own benefit. I like looking back at a book and quickly seeing what my overall impression was. Even though there's no replacement for a well-written review, I know some people appreciate a quick glance at a rating if they don't have time to read the entire review.

Found you through the Hop. Very pretty layout. :]

And I agree - I prefer to read the reviews, despite there being a rating. After all, I'd rather know more about the book than judge it simply by a number.

Hope you have a great weekend!

I don't have ratings either, so I understand where you're coming from. I'm already a follower, have a good weekend.

Just hopping by. I don't usually review books on my blog. I talk more about writing. But I love your blog. It's so beautiful, I can't wait to stop back by.

Thanks for hopping by my blog! I like using a rating system because when I review books, I don't always express myself as well as I would like to. For instance, I might have enjoyed a book overall, but still have spent half the review discussing why I didn't like a certain aspect of it and thus give the impression that I didn't enjoy the book all that much.

I'm hopping back. Thanks so much for following my blog. I really appreciate it.

The reason I use a rating system is so that people who haven't read a book yet can just peek at my rating to see if I liked it. I know when I'm getting ready to read something, I'll look it up to see if it's gotten good ratings but I don't want to read a whole review and then go into the book with someone else's opinion.

I'm your newest follower. Have an awesome weekend!

Hi Jo, thanks for hopping by my blog! I love the wallpaper you're using, and the photo of the cemetery is gorgeous (seems like that should be a contradiction in terms but cemetery's can be beautiful, peaceful places can't they).
