One Lovely Blog, eh?

Well, someone thinks so, apparently!  :)    I saw in my Blog Hop comments that Books Glorious Books had given me this award ...  and I'm just getting around to posting about it now.   But since I had a somewhat awful evening yesterday, this was just what I needed to get my spirits up today!   Here's how it works:

1. Accept the award, post in on your blog together with the name of the person who has granted the award and his or her blog link.   Definitely visit this blog --- the teaser from this Tuesday is especially fun!
2. Pass the award to 15 other blogs that you've newly discovered.    I'm actually choosing 10, if that's ok.....

Versatility ---- and how a little thing made a big difference in my Friday

So there I was, having a kinda crappy Friday  (you know, one of those that doesn't begin well, and it just keeps coming...), but I was hopping through the list of Book Blog Hoppers ---- and discovered that Lisa over at Pages of My Life had been extremely sweet and gave me an award!!!  Made my day!!!     She's got a lovely blog --- check it out!

So now, I'm getting around to actually posting a little something.   :)        I actually received this award in June, but I have more people I can pass it along to, so I'll be doing that now!    How the award works:

1. Thank and link back to the person who gave you this award.
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Pass the award along to 15 bloggers who you have recently discovered and who you think are fantastic for whatever reason! (In no particular order...)

7 seems to be a good number for me, because I have 7 blogs I'm passing this award on to, as well!    Tricky thing is thinking of 7 things to share about myself (I don't really like talking about myself).   Here goes.....

1.   I am not a summer person.  I basically endure heat and humidity and then get all kinds of happy once fall (finally) arrives.

2.  I like taking photographs of old cemeteries, and have visited many in Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Maine.

3.  I like pens, especially fountain pens.  I have a few, and I like to use them at work -- makes my handwriting a little nicer because I slow down.

4.   I really love going to the local arboretum in the Spring every week to see what new little green things are growing, and poking up out of the soil.   I think it's so cool to be able to see how much can change and grow in just a few days.

5.  I do not like eggplant.  Or zucchini.   

6.  My sister loves both of the above mentioned vegetables and will sometimes try to sneak them into what she makes for dinner if I'm coming over.

7.  I have five tattoos.

Wonderful award!!!

One of my favorite bloggers, Amanda, sent an award my way!!!!   This is a wonderful way to end my week (especially now that my sinus infection has cleared up and I can breathe/sleep normally again).   And, it's a beautiful day outside ---- perfect!   :)

The rules of the award say to share seven things about yourself and to pass the award on to 15 more blogs I've recently discovered.   Amanda was sneaky and she didn't share anything (but she's been superbusy, so it's ok).  ;)~      So let's see.... seven things.....

1) I am the only one in my family who is a hockey fan.  I'm obviously an aberration in the genetic strain.
2) I do have a tendency to yell at the TV when I'm watching the Blackhawks, and have been known to punch my husband in the arm when I get excited.  He now sits on my left side (I'm right-handed).
3)  I have a little starfish beanie that travels with us and gets his picture taken everywhere.  Right now, the starfish is in Florida with a friend of mine, but in the past, he's been to Britain, Italy, Zimbabwe... and Wisconsin.
4) I have a hard time always respecting that my little grey bunny is a fierce creature --- he's so cute that I want to pick him up and snug him all the time.
5)  I like to fiddle around with beads and jewelry.  Natural stones are my favorite, but I also love glass.
6)  I don't really like to mow the lawn, and wish we had a bit less grass.
7) My favorite speed to go on the highway is 80.

It's a Good Neighborhood!!!

After having a very frustrating morning, I finally brought up my Reader and saw that the lovely Whitney over at She is Too Fond of Books (have I said how much I love that blog title???) had very nicely passed along a Great Blog Neighbor Award to me.   Thank you !!!!!!!    :)

This is just what I needed today ---- I'm finishing up an almost 14 straight days of working, and I had two very.... shall we say, trying.... calls at the library this morning.   So, this has given me a spot of sunshine in my otherwise dreary day.    :)        And, I'll pass it along to a few more people, as well.   Don't forget to check out Whitney's blog, along with Felicia's, too!

More Awards!!!

Beautiful Whitney over at She is Too Fond of Books (love that blog title!!!)  has graciously bestowed upon me two awards -- The Beautiful Blogger Award and the Honest Scrap Award!  I have been enjoying reading her blog, and I do believe this calls for a celebration -- I think a piece of cake after work will be just the thing!

For the Honest Scrap Award, I need to list ten facts about myself, and pass this award on to ten other bloggers.     Ten Honest Things:

1.  I love the alchemy of baking (some might call it chemistry, but to me, it's more magical).
2.  I have seen Neil Gaiman at various appearances 6 different times and have been lucky enough to have him sign some of my books.
3.  I was raised on classical music and jazz, but developed an interest in a wide range of music -- and admit to occasionally indulging in industrial and goth music.
4.  Echoing the sentiments of Whitney, my worst subject in school also was math.  I panicked when I had to take the GRE and basically just relied on what I could remember from high school math to get through it.
5.  I have five tattoos.   The last one I got was a gothic butterfly when I finished grad school.
6.  I love napping.
7.  In another life, I'd want to be a member of Cirque du Soleil.
8.  My favorite time of year is the Fall, especially October.
9.  I used to think that I was alone in having a reading addiction, but thanks to the discovery of book blogs, I know I'm not the only one.
10.  I really don't like talking about myself that much --- this was hard!!   :)
